Dear Friends, please accept my apologies for taking so long to write with informations about the European tour. It has been a very difficult few months but with the help of some friends I am back and ready to fight again. As you may or may not know, I am no longer in agreement with the views of Claude Zapata. As I believe the EJSBA needs a person with international experience, a command of different languages, connections with potential sponsors and an absolute independence from the brands to take our sport forward. The only person that I know that has all these skills is M. Pascal Fliche (Vice-president of Disney Village Paris). I believe Mr Fliche is the only man capable of saving the sport during these difficult financial times. But when I made the proposal of Mr Fliche’s candidature to the EJSBA Board of Directors, Mr Zapata was the only one to say “no way”! Maybe afraid to lose his position as Chairman of the EJSBA? So Mr Zapata is no longer the Chairman of the EJSBA and we will organise elections with the affiliated members for a new Chairman. Here is the proposal of rules I wish to submit to the Board of Directors, after taking your advice. The main goal of this new rules is to protect the riders from the obligation to spend +/- 15.000€ every year to buy a new ski or more for a R/A. (You can be happy if you can sale for 3.000€ the ski you buy last year for 15.000€) The second goal is to make some cheap “starter” classes for Juniors, ski Lite or ski Stock. Ski Juniors : Ski Lite only, Yam or Kawa only and no engine changes, the power band for this class is to stay at 85 BHP claimed by the factories This new rule will allow parents to spend only +/- 2.500€ for a second hand Yam or Kawa to let their kids try racing. Ski Lite : Same as the Junior rules. Ski Stock: · Kawasaki stock: the factory has never asked us to make an update for some special tuning kit like Yamaha have. · Yamaha Stock or RR · HSR- Benelli S4 Stock · HSR-Benelli S8 100 BHP Ski Limited: All the skis from the Stock Class + · HSR-Benelli S4 with the factory 140BHP, with no other ECU than the one you receive with the 140 HSR kit. · Zapata must be stock. · Limited tuning will be allowed on the Kawa and Yams · HSR-Benelli S8 in factory 140 BHP version. Ski Ladies: One race with two rankings, one for Stock and one for GP Ski GP: No changes, it stays like in 2008. Some persons will say that the factory don’t agree with using their engine in another hull, but before the GP Class the factory’s made special “ultra light” hulls for the factory and semi-factory teams when it was absolutely forbidden by the rules! So taking any chance away the private teams to win the titles. GP makes it fair for all. R/A Classes: No changes So friends, let me know what you think about this proposal, next week I will give you the dates and venues for the E.C. 2009 Best regards Yves Van Heers +32 475 47 16 64
